eWater Cooperative Research Centre's environment reportThe Chief Minister has released eWater Cooperative Research Centre's (CRC) final environmental report on ACTEW's proposed Water Purification Scheme. The report, Indirect Potable Use and Expansion of the Cotter Reservoir - Stage 2 Environmental Risk Assessment (620 kb, pdf), indicates that any issues identified in the environmental risk assessment can be satisfactorily mitigated using known technologies and protocols. eWater CRC was commissioned by the ACT Government to assess and report on potential environmental issues that may arise from ACTEW's proposal. The report assesses potential issues that these projects may pose for the environment and the ecology of the Lower Cotter Catchment and the Murrumbidgee River, and provides a range of risk mitigation measures to ensure that any issues or potential hazards are dealt with. eWater CRC's environmental issues paper and interim environmental opinion reports are also available.
