Great greywater hose give-away - now closed

Using waste water (greywater) from the laundry, instead of water from the mains (drinking) water system, on our gardens makes an important contribution towards conserving our precious water supplies.

As part of the Think water, act water strategy for sustainable water resource management, the ACT Government commenced a program in February 2008 to distribute 10,000 greywater diversion hoses, free-of-charge to ACT residents. The hoses were supplied and distributed through Magnet Mart stores. A Greywater - frequently asked questions fact sheet was also provided with each hose.

More detailed information about using greywater is also available from the ACT Government publication Greywater Use: Guidelines for residential properties in Canberra.

Due to the fantastic response from the community, all 10,000 hoses were given away in just under three months and the program has now closed.
