GardenSmart serviceClever plant choice, garden design, maintenance and watering practices can all help to make your garden more water-efficient. To help residents make a long-term commitment to sustainable water use habits, the ACT Government is offering a FREE GardenSmart service, valued at around $150. The GardenSmart service is tailored to meet the specific needs of your garden. A qualified horticulturist visits your garden to assess your watering needs, then demonstrates practical ways you can use less water in the garden. Our specialist tells you how to make your garden more water-efficient through clever plant choice and garden design, and gives you practical maintenance and watering advice. Taking part in GardenSmart also makes you eligible for a rebate of up to $50 when you buy selected water-saving products such as garden mulch, drip irrigation systems or components, weeping hose, tap timers, soil additives for moisture retention, irrigation system controllers, moisture/rain sensors for irrigation systems, water wands, downpipe water diverters, greywater hoses, compost bins, worm farms and books on water-efficient gardening. (See application form below for conditions.) ACT residents who sign up for their GardenSmart visit between 10 July and 31 August 2008 will be entitled to a bonus $50 rebate in addition to the standard $50 GardenSmart Product rebate. That's a total of $100 to spend on water-efficient products for your garden. To register, simply print and complete the application
